How it all works ...

STEPS TO RECEIVE CREDIT Academic supports you in every step of the process to receive academic credit for your journey.

While the procedure may vary from institution to institution, here are the basic steps for earning academic credit for your journey through our educational partners:

1.  Indicate Your Interest

When you register for your journey, simply check the box that indicates your interest in earning academic credit for your journey.

Alternatively, you can also send us an email after booking your journey, referencing your booking number, telling us about your interest in earning academic credit for your journey. Academic will provide you all the details you need for earning academic credit, and we’ll support you all along the way.

2.  Prepare a Proposal

At least 6 weeks prior to your departure, you will need to submit an Independent Travel Study Proposal in which you will provide the following information:*

  • A description of your travel study project.
  • The specific objectives you will meet.
  • How you will meet the objectives. Academic will happily assist in defining your travel study project and completing your proposal.

* The procedure and requirements will vary by institution. Academic will provide you credit options once we receive your expression of interest in earning academic credit for your journey. We will work with you to select the best option, complete the proposal, comply with requirements, and submit your final project.

3.  Write Your Report

Generally speaking, most programs require that on your journey, and based on your proposal, that you maintain the following:

  • A travel log or journal
  • A photo journal
  • Brochures, pamphlets, or other resources

On your return, to earn your university credit, in most cases and based on your approved program, you will submit:

  • Your research materials
  • A 10-page, double-spaced report Academic will support you before, during, and after the journey as you work on your requirements and submit your work.
