Planning Before your journey

intelli.tours Academic thanks you for booking your journey with us and we look forward to traveling with you.

While we have done all the planning for your journey, there are some important next steps in advance of your departure that we would  like detail for you so that you are all set for departure day

As always never hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or concerns as it is always our pleasure to help in any and every way that we can.

Here are the important next steps:

1.

Trip Protection

We suggest that you begin looking into a travel protection plan as soon as possible, especially if you want a plan that offers cancel for any reason or if you need pre-existing conditions coverage.

2.

Passport

Start the process ASAP to get a passport if you don’t have one or to to renew a passport.

We suggest that your passport have 6-months validity past the return date of your journey.

You will also need a laminated color copy of the photo and information page of your passport to provide us on departure day.

Medical

You might consider getting a quick physical or consultation with your doctor prior to travel just to make sure you’re up-to-date on all vaccinations and other medical details

On departure day your Group Leader will ask for any written prescriptions from your doctor for prescription medications you take:

Please be aware of the following:

  • Be sure that you ask you doctor to use the chemical or generic name of a drug rather than to the advertised brand name under which the drug is sold. For example: A prescription for Wellbutrin would be reference bupropion and the prescribed milligram dosage.
  • Please have a 12-day supply of all medication in case we should have any travel delays.
  • In the case of items like EpiPens or inhalers we ask that you travel with backups.

When you registered for your journey and completed the traveler details you were asked about any medical or physical issues or allergies. We will follow up on those details with an online form for you to complete with the important details we should know.

Money & Banking

Please call the issuer of any credit or debit cards you’re bringing on the journey, and give them the dates and destination of your journey.

Check with your bank to see if they can sell you Mexican pesos.

We suggest the US equivalent of $100 in pesos to cover souvenirs and personal expenses.

If you cannot acquire Mexican pesos locally, just let us know and we can arrange to have pesos for you and make a US dollar exchange in Oaxaca.

($100 is our suggested amount you bring as your journey fee covers everything, except souvenirs and personal expenses. Of course, you may choose to bring more than $100, depending on how much you plan to spend on souvenirs. In future communications, we will provide more details about souvenirs from Oaxaca.)

5.

Mobile Phones

Check with your mobile provider to see what coverage you will have in Mexico.

Ideally, and this is common with most carriers, you want a plan that gives you free calling to and from Mexico and allows you to use your data plan while in Mexico.

There is free Wifi in the hotel.

(Depending on your plan, it can sometimes be most cost-effective to upgrade your plan for the trip to one that includes Mexico rather than use a pay-as-you-go option. You can usually downgrade the plan after the journey.)

6.

Informational Webinars

Even if you participated in one of our twice-weekly webinars before you booked your journey, please join us again now that you have booked as we’re happy to discuss any questions you may have in advance of your journey.

We will hold these webinars through Wednesday March 04, 2020, and offer them again on April 07 through June 03, 2020.

7.

Pre-Journey Meetings

Approximately 45 days before departure and again approximately 2 weeks before departure, we will hold pre-journey online meetings to go over important information, answer you questions, and discuss the journey.

We will send you details about these meetings approximately 60 days prior to departure.

Should you be unable to attend any of these pre-journey meetings, we will be happy to schedule an alternative date and time that is convenient for you to meet.
